Prayer when Lighting a Votive Candle:

Blessed Lord, and my beloved Mother, Mary, accept this
burning candle as a sign of my faith and love for you. Like this candle, I am ready to be used in your service, without asking why and to what purpose. Even as this candle, I wish to stand in your presence to be consumed in the light and warmth of your love. Please hear my prayer and, if it is your will, grant my petition. But above all, make me loyal and faithful to you in all circumstances of my life. Amen.

SPECIAL OCTOBER EVENTS

St. John's Family Rosary:

Join us every Thursday evening in October (October 5, 12, 19 & 26) at 6:30 p.m. in St. John's Chapel of the Angels. The Rosary will only take 15 - 20 minutes, and it will be a great way to prepare for the Jeff Cavins' Great Adventure Bible Study that starts at 7:00 p.m. We encourage individuals and families to take turns leading the Rosary. If you are interested in doing so, call Maury at the Parish Office, (651) 633-8333, ext. 1224.

Children of the Eucharist:

On Friday, October 6, the World Apostolate of Fatima will be holding a spiritual program for all children of the world, encouraging them to gather before the Most Blessed Sacrament.

While gathered in prayer, imitating little Blessed Francisco who was so fond of the "Hidden Jesus," they will be invited to pray the Rosary for their own families and all the families of the world. Encourage your children to spend some time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, October 6. St. John's has the parish "Cenacle" (perpetual adoration chapel). To organize a Children's Holy Hour in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, please visit the following website for details:

Annual Archdiocesan Candlelight Rosary Procession:

Music starts at 6:15 p.m., and the program begins at 7:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis in partnership with the World Apostolate of Fatima. For more information, please call the Office of Family Life at (651) 291-4488. Pray for your family... one bead at a time...

Sacredness of Human Life:

Again this year, the World Apostolate of Fatima is promoting a worldwide prayer day for the Sanctity of Human Life. This event will take place on Sunday, October 8. People from all over the world are invited to pray for this intention, so that we may offer God, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary, one billion prayers. Last year, 100 million prayers were offered through a website count.

Catholics around the world are asked to pray the Rosary on Sunday, October 8, for the Sanctity of Life. Our non-Catholic brothers and sisters are asked to pray according to their faith for 20 minutes. This is a small request for each individual, but together, it is a global effort to protect the sanctity of human life, save souls, and achieve world peace.

Touching enough people to offer a billion prayers to heaven in one day is not an impossible task if Christians are united. Please register whatever you and your family can pray on the  following website:

Daily Prayer to End Abortion:

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life and for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, yet I rejoice that you have
conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today, I commit myself never to be silent, never to be passive, never to be forgetful of the
unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, and never to stop defending life until
all my brothers and sisters are protected, and our nation, once again, becomes a nation with liberty and justice, not just for some, but for all, through Christ our Lord. Amen!
