Youth and Blankets for Life
Jeannette Peterson, St. John's Respect Life Chair

In July 2006, young adults from Brad & Libby DuPont's Youth Ministry had a day devoted to Respect Life Issues. The youth were divided into small groups and visited different crisis pregnancy centers, including North Side Life Care Center (NSLCC) in North Minneapolis. Some stayed at St. John's Parish Center and prepared  baby bush tags for the Annual Baby Bush Campaign. They also made 10 polar fleece blankets for Birthright and NSLCC. Mary Swenson of Coon Rapids Birthright came to speak about the services provided at her pro-life clinic. Below are some pictures from our Respect Life Day:

Dear St. John's Parishioners,

The Respect Life Committee, North Side Life Care Center, and Birthright of Coon Rapids thank you for the phenomenal success of our Baby Bush Campaign. A mother donating $250.00 worth of items (five giant sized packages of diapers, seven cans of formula, and four disposable cameras) shared this with a committee member:

"I offer this donation in gratitude for my wonderful husband, my wonderful children, and my wonderful life."

A grandmother brought packages in during the waning moments of the campaign with this note attached: "Extra for the baby tree from my grandkids." She told us that her grandkids were so excited to pick out these items themselves for the women and their babies in need. We had over 450 donation request tags returned with items. [Please see the pictures below.]

A special thanks to our Parish Youth for helping with the request tags and for making polar fleece blankets for the Baby Bush Campaign
(adjacent column). Thank you also to the Quilters for the beautiful handmade blankets. God bless you.

"Did someone drop off a baby?!" "No. She's one of our helpers!"
