Children's Ministries

ELEMENTARY FAITH FORMATION (GRADES 1 - 6)
Meet in classrooms for one hour on Wednesday evenings (two times available, 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.). Many adults are needed as catechists, hall monitors, attendance helpers, and material preparers.

CELEBRATE THE WORD
Special liturgy for grades 1 - 4! Children are dismissed by the priest during the 9:30 a.m. & 11:15 a.m. Sunday Masses, and they hear the liturgy at their level of understanding. Catechists needed.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Children, ages three to kindergarten, meet at the 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday Masses: catechists, musicians, and craft helpers needed.

NURSERY
For children, ages 1 - 3, during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday Masses: supervisor on staff; parents asked to help every 4 - 6 weeks.

Youth Ministry

JUNIOR HIGH FAITH FORMATION (GRADES 7 & 8)
Large and small group meetings emphasize Catholic truths in teenage life: meet Wednesdays; two different times are available. Adults or college students needed as assistants, chaperones, and drivers.

SENIOR HIGH FAITH FORMATION (GRADES 9 - 12)
Meet Jesus Christ through prayer, social activities, and service: adult assistants and chaperones are needed.

Adults

CIRCLE OF WOMEN
Gather on Thursday mornings for prayer, inspirational speakers, and small group sharing; childcare is available. 

COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN (CCW)
A spiritual and service organization devoted to Our Blessed Mother and the Holy Rosary: meets the third Monday of the month.

SCRIPTURE STUDY
Study Scripture readings on Wednesday morning after Mass for the following Sunday. 

MOMS IN TOUCH
Mothers come together one hour each week to pray for their children and their schools.

SJB MEN'S FELLOWSHIP

Meet on Thursdays in Christ's presence to discuss the Catholic faith and share experiences through friendship, prayer, study, and fraternity.


Faith Formation Committees

FAITH FORMATION
Advise the staff on long-range planning and development of policies, and oversee and approve the Faith Formation budget.

ADULT EDUCATION

Assist in planning events for adult education.

CIRCLE OF WOMEN BOARD
Plan Circle of Women events, as well as their weekly meetings.

Sacraments

BAPTISM SEMINAR
Required for parents to educate them in our baptismal rite. Held monthly on a Tuesday evening.  Baptisms are the first Sunday of each month, except during Lent.   

RECONCILIATION and FIRST EUCHARIST
These sacraments are normally celebrated in the 2nd grade. They are parent-lead, with lessons taking place at home and in two large group sessions. Leaders are needed and training is provided.

CONFIRMATION
Students in the 9th grade meet on Sunday evenings for prayer, service projects, and retreats. Adult sponsors and adult or college-age small group leaders are needed. 

RCIA SPONSORS
A journey of faith for adults seeking the sacraments of Baptism,             Confirmation, and Eucharist. Adults are needed who will mentor (sponsor) a person in their faith and serve as catechists.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION COUPLES
Married couples work with engaged couples as they prepare for marriage; training is provided.

SJB School unveiled a new stewardship program in 2006.

Little Lights Preschool

For children ages three to five. We offer two, three, or five days per week; morning or afternoon sessions. Please contact the Preschool for service opportunities, (651) 633-8333, ext. 1227.

Develop, recommend, and implement support programs for Little Lights Preschool students and families.
