CREATION OF LIVING WATER STAINED GLASS WINDOW

This new window was commissioned for St. John's Church and given to the Glory of God through the generosity of parishioner Barbara A. Huiras. Our 12 individual windows are handcrafted works of art. The original design was created by the late William Saltzman, an internationally famous artist and ecclesiastical designer. These windows were his last commission. The stained glass windows were fabricated by Gaytee Stained Glass of Minneapolis, a firm renowned for its craftsmanship since 1918.

The new insulated window frames and interior & exterior glass were fabricated by Al Palmer Stained Glass of Fridley. The stained glass used in the windows is imported European mouth-blown and drawn-antique glass. It is call "antique" because it is made in the centuries old tradition of blowing sheet glass where a large cylinder of glass is blown and then cut open and flattened to form a sheet. The antique glass has bubbles and striations that refract the light passing through it. This glass is renowned for its vibrant color and subtle shading, and it is held together in the traditional manor using lead channel in various widths. These windows are the benchmark of traditional construction and contemporary design.

Barbara A. Huiras is at the wheel, in control, and lovin' it!

On sunny days, look for the window's projection on various surfaces throughout the Baptistry. Perhaps in the future, the other six south and west windows at eye level may grace the Church with more beauty and color. And, as always, please remember all of our benefactors in your prayers.
