Welcome, New Families

We can always choose to sit safely on the sidelines of life and hope a line drive doesn't come at our heads! I consider myself a very prayerful, spiritual person, and I believe God and the Holy Spirit are constantly at work in my life: calling, prodding, challenging, and inviting. I know that many of you reading this are very much the same. I witness this call to serve and love in all the ways the good folks at St. John's give of themselves.

I believe a challenge for all of us is to really begin digging into the systems that are in place that are not just. When we have succeeded in righting these injustices, we will have the absolute joy of knowing that our food shelf, shelter meals, and coat drives are no longer needed because the hungry are fed and clothed. Our friends from Families Moving Forward and our sister parish in Bull Bay will have their needs met (no more second collections!). It has been shown, time and time again in this world of vast wealth, that there
is enough for everyone. But, it is distributed unevenly, greed wins out over sharing, power wins out over compromise, judgment about others is unceasing, money is bigger than God, and we all too often forget the way Jesus lived when He walked the earth. He spent precious time in forgiveness, in loving and in sharing Himself with ALL people.  Someone said to me just yesterday, "What do you think God thinks of all that is going on?" Hmmm....
