Raising the Roof, Literally
Bob Mike, Parish Administrator

Actually, we are going to raze the roof first, then we are going to raise it. Technically, both roofs: the school roof and the church roof. Both roofs are over 20 years old. For the sake of security, and in the spirit of disciplined stewardship, we must replace both for the safety of our school children, our parishioners, and our guests. The school roof will be replaced first, and the work will be completed before school begins in the fall. Then we will start on the church. There may be temporary inconveniences as a result of all the work in progress, and we ask for your patience in bearing with the replacement process.

PROCEEDS FROM OUR FALLFEST & BOOYA WEEKEND WILL HELP PAY FOR THIS MAJOR CAPITAL INVESTMENT.

So, remember the book of raffle tickets that you received in the mail recently? Please return your completed ticket stubs, in an envelope with $50, to the collection basket at Mass or to the Parish Office. Then be sure to join us on the weekend of September 14 - 16, for St. John's great family celebration. Raffle ticket winners will be announced on Sunday, September 16, at 3:00 p.m. as the festival's grand finale.
See pages 2 and 3 of this newsletter for weekend highlights.

Thank you for your cooperation and your generosity, and it is our desire to continue to serve you in a spirit of gratitude. I hope to see you at our Annual Fallfest & Booya Family Celebration as we raise the roof... literally!

SHHH... A NOT SO SILENT CHANGE TO THE FALLFEST!
Ann Brannon, Fallfest Co-Chair

The Silent Auction is moving from Friday night to the hea
t of the day on Sunday, and you can help make it a big success. The bidding is open to all who attend the festival (for ages 18+) on Sunday, September 16, 10:30 a. m. - 2:00 p.m.

Also, different from past auctions, this one is truly silent, as the bids will go into a sealed container and the winning bid is revealed at the end of the festival on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

Previously, parishioners and local businesses have been generous by donating items such as restaurant gift certificates, sports tickets, golf packages, and vacation opportunities. With your help, we can build on the past success of the auction. Not only do we need people bidding at Fallfest, but first we are looking for donations from the parish. The general rule of thumb is that the more creative the donation, the more money it attracts!

For example, if you have a cabin or timeshare, if you have season professional or college sports tickets, if you do construction or have other service skills, or even if you are a fabulous chef or baker - feel free to share your talents! Bids will start at a minimum amount, so please include the retail value of your good or service with your donation. The emphasis is on quality, so we
cannot accept any garage or rummage sale items

The earlier your donation is in the better, so we can include it in a Silent Auction Booklet. Please bring your items to the Parish Office to the attention of Patty Abraham. Whether you donate or do some bidding, everyone can take part in this year's Silent Auction. Questions? Call (651) 633-8333, ext. 1272. Thank you!
