What is Your Legacy?

St. John the Baptist Legacy Society

St. John the Baptist Legacy Society was established to honor and thank those who make a gift of a lasting remembrance to our parish in their will or estate plan. When you make a bequest to St. John the Baptist, you are assuring that your faith and values will be passed on to future generations.

Below are a few ways you can carry on a legacy in your name to support our parish community for generations to come.

Estate Plan – Your will or estate plan may include our parish and/or school through an unrestricted gift to be used where most needed, or to an endowment fund or funds (see below).  You may consider designating a dollar amount of your choice, or a percentage of the residue of your estate, such as 5%, 10%, or up to 100%.

Retirement Account or Insurance Policy:  St. John the Baptist may be designated as the full or partial beneficiary of your IRA account or insurance policy.

Charitable Gift Annuity or Charitable Remainder Trust:  You may name St. John the Baptist as beneficiary.

Endowment Fund Gift:  Make an endowment gift of $500 or more (cumulative or one-time) during your lifetime.  Endowment fund contributions remain in the fund as principle, so these gifts continue to support St. John the Baptist beyond your lifetime.

As you consult your attorney or financial advisor on the selection of appropriate wording to reflect a bequest to St. John the Baptist, please be sure to include the full name and address of our parish, along with the Federal Tax ID number:

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and School, 835 2nd Avenue NW, New Brighton, MN  55112
Federal Tax ID number: 41-0732498

Spiritual Benefits for Legacy Society Members

Every year on/near the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, celebrated in June, Mass will be offered for the needs and intentions of our Legacy Society members.

St. John the Baptist Endowment Funds

Endowment funds sustain our church, school, and cemetery in perpetuity.  The principal is invested, and the interest earned is disbursed on an annual basis, providing a continuous source of income to support our parish for generations to come.

St. John the Baptist currently partners with the Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota for these six endowment funds:

Church Operations

Provides support for day-to-day needs of the parish including minor repairs, the development of staff, and funds to respond to unexpected needs and special opportunities.

Capital

Provides funds for capital improvements to ensure safety, upgrade facilities, and utilize new technologies for greater efficiency and enhanced service to all who use our campus.

Pastoral Care

Supports the parish’s many outreach ministries to the elderly, homebound, sick, and members of our community in time of need.

The Pastoral Care Fund was founded with a gift in memory of Julie Hammer.

Cemetery

Supports maintenance and property improvements associated with our parish cemetery, to provide respectful care for the deceased and consolation for their loved ones.

School Operations

Provides support to meet day-to-day needs of the school such as subsidizing teacher salaries to attract and retain highly qualified staff, covering the cost of ongoing maintenance and repairs, and purchasing equipment to keep technology up to date.

The School Operations Endowment was founded with a gift in memory of Joseph K. and Marcia E. Counter.

Tuition Assistance

Provides tuition assistance to families in need who have children enrolled at St. John the Baptist Catholic School.
