What is Your Legacy?
St. John the Baptist Legacy Society
St. John the Baptist Legacy Society was established to honor and thank those who make a gift of a lasting remembrance to our parish in their will or estate plan. When you make a bequest to St. John the Baptist, you are assuring that your faith and values will be passed on to future generations.
Your legacy gift may be unrestricted, or you may choose to donate to one of the endowments listed below, or to a purpose that has special meaning for you.
Another way to become a Legacy Society member is to name our parish as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement account. Additional options are to create a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust, naming St. John the Baptist as beneficiary.
As you consult your attorney or financial advisor on the selection of appropriate wording to reflect a bequest to St. John the Baptist, please be sure to include the full name and address of our parish, along with the Federal Tax ID number:
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and School, 835 2nd Avenue NW, New Brighton, MN 55112
Federal Tax ID number: 41-0732498
Spiritual Benefits for Legacy Society Members
Each year on the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, celebrated June 24, Mass will be offered for the needs and intentions of our Legacy Society members.
St. John the Baptist Endowment Funds
Endowment funds sustain our church, school, and cemetery in perpetuity. The principal is invested, and the interest earned is disbursed on an annual basis, providing a continuous source of income to support our parish for generations to come.
St. John the Baptist currently partners with the Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota for these six endowment funds:
Capital
When repairing is not enough, the Capital Endowment steps in to replace and provide, taking the general maintenance of our parish facilities to a new level.
Cemetery
Provides for the needs associated with the maintenance of and improvements to our cemetery, as well as help planning funerals, offering grief support for the bereaved, and providing respectful care for the deceased.
General Operations
Provides support to meet the needs of the parish including the upkeep and repair of our physical plant, the development of our staff, and enabling the parish to respond to emergencies and special opportunities.
Pastoral Care
Supports the many outreach ministries to the elderly, homebound, sick, and members of our parish community in time of need.
The Pastoral Care Endowment was founded with a gift in memory of Julie Hammer.
School Operations
Provides support to meet day-to-day needs of the school such as:
- Subsidizing teacher salaries to attract and retain highly qualified staff.
- Providing ongoing maintenance and covering the cost of minor repairs.
- Purchasing new school equipment and keeping technology up-to-date.
- Funding faculty and staff development and continuing education.
The School Operations Endowment was founded with a gift in memory of Joseph K. and Marcia E. Counter.
Tuition Assistance
Provides financial aid for tuition assistance for St. John the Baptist School families in need.
