Magnificent Models of Holiness: St. Catherine of Siena and Mary, the Mother of God

By Fr. Paul Shovelain

Today we honor St. Catherine of Siena, a great female doctor of the church. She played an instrumental role in encouraging a renewal in the church. We ask her intercession as we ask the Holy Spirit to renew and restore us!

As we approach Mary’s Month of May, we ask her to intercede for us. This our first May with the new icon of Mary the Mother of God in the front of the church that was blessed by Archbishop Hebda last July. I encourage you to look upon her as you come into our church and ask her to help you receive her son more fully each and every time you are here. She desires you to grow in relationship with her son and will do whatever she can to help make that happen.

Upcoming Events:

May is the season of Sacraments and this weekend we celebrate the First Holy Communion for 34 of our young parishioners. Please pray for them and their families as they take this important step. Please know that the 4:30pm, 8:30am and 10:30am Masses this weekend will be extra full with our guests. We anticipate using St. Joseph Hall for overflow for all three of those Masses.

Please consider joining us for a morning of reflection on May 8th for some rest and restoration. It will be a great way to be renewed as we are exhausted with all the tension. Click here to register. Hope to see you there!

Finally, thank you all for your prayers for my short trip last week. I had a nice trip to Cleveland last week where I baptized my nephew John Lewis Shovelain at St. Raphael Catholic Church. It was great to be able to celebrate another Sacrament with my family. Click here to see the bulletin for a picture and a little recap.
