The Christmas Season Continues….

By Fr. Kevin Magner

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I know most of us had smaller and quieter Christmas celebrations this year and, from what I’ve heard from others, enjoyed them more than other years!

We still are celebrating the Christmas season this week until it ends Sunday with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Yesterday we celebrated Epiphany with the Gospel story of the visit of the Magi who traveled from a far-off country to see the Christ Child. The Magi followed the light of a star, which led them to the Light of the Nations, Jesus Christ. As I mentioned in my homily at Mass this morning, it is important for us to always keep our focus on following the Light. In these gray days of January, we can often feel that the light has gone out of our lives and it is easy to slip into the winter doldrums. Remember that the Magi followed the star by night. Even when it seems darkest the Light of the Nations continues to guide us to light and life.

As we come to the end of the Christmas season we will celebrate the annual Journey to the Inn, a celebration of the Christmas story with live animals in our outdoor manger. It will be this Saturday, January 9, at 6:00 PM. See below for more information.

Have a blessed week, everyone!
