Called Forth on the Feast of the Presentation!

February 2, 2023
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. John’s,

Today is the last day to have your Christmas decorations up as we celebrate the 40 days after Christmas and the Presentation in the Temple! Tomorrow is the feast of St. Blaise and we will have the blessing of throats at Mass. Join us as we ask for God’s protection of your health.

You may have noticed that the bulletin got longer last week. It will continue to be 12 pages as our bulletin printer changed and so they asked us to expand to the longer version at no additional charge. So, we are brainstorming ways to share more of the great work of the Lord that is happening here at SJB. For now, we plan on having pictures of events from the past week as it is wonderful to see the ministry happening! If you have suggestions of what you would like to see, please let Joseph Huebl our Communications Coordinator know. We will also be discussing this at the next Commission night.

We also want to hear from you! One of my goals for us as a parish this year is to grow in understanding how we can best serve you. You have the opportunity to give us feedback by clicking on the link at the bottom of the Thursday email message and providing us with feedback. We are willing to grow and take your suggestions as we continue to more effectively share the good news of Christ and build up the kingdom of God in New Brighton and beyond.

Finally, thank you, for your generous support of our parish community. I am excited for Wines to Wishes this Saturday and am Calling Forth those in attendance to partner with us as we keep the forward momentum of our school going. I believe next year we will have increased attendance in our school by over 50% in 5 years! That is remarkable! Not only are we seeing more students, but we are also seeing more conversions to the Catholic faith as we have several parents becoming Catholic at the Easter Vigil.

As the Father loves me, so I also love you,

Father Paul Shovelain
Pastor
