The Sacrament of Confession

By Fr. Kevin Magner

As we approach the celebration of Christmas most priests are on the confessional circuit, traveling from parish to parish for penance services. Advent, like Lent, is meant to be a penitential season, albeit not quite as solemn as Lent. Still, it is a time in which we are called to meditate on the coming of the Lord into our lives and how we can prepare our hearts to receive Him.

An obvious way we can do that is to go to the Sacrament of Confession. After all, the central message of the preaching of our parish’s patron saint, John the Baptist, was repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

I have been very happy to have seen so many people already coming to confession in preparation for Christmas. If you have not yet, please plan to go to confession sometime during these remaining days of Advent. Please click here to see our parish confession times. If you are unable to get to one of the times at our parish then please check out confession times at any of the nearby Catholic parishes.
